# Generating a report

## Generating a report

### Before you start

Make sure the project has the test run data you want to report on.

Decide the report type and scope before generating.

To generate a report:

1. Open the **Reports** page.
2. Click **Create Report** or use a quick access card.
3. Select the report type.
4. Configure the scope.
5. Select test runs and a time range.
6. Click **Generate**.

While the report is processing, its status shows as `Generating`.

When it is ready, the status changes to `Ready`.

Click the report to open it.

To export the report, click **Download PDF**.

* specific runs

When processing finishes, you can open it and download the PDF.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://mozarkdocs.gitbook.io/appx_documentation/test-context-manager-documentation/reports-and-analytics/generating-a-report.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
