## Creating a test run

Create a test run when you are ready to execute test cases.

### Before you start

Decide whether you want a structured run from a test plan or a one-off ad-hoc run.

Have the target environment and device configuration ready.

You can create a test run from a test plan or as an ad-hoc run.

### From a test plan

1. Open the test plan you want to execute.
2. Click **Create Test Run**.
3. Review the pre-populated test cases and configuration.
4. Confirm or adjust the name, environment, and device configuration.
5. Click **Create**.

Runs created from a plan inherit the plan's test cases and configuration.

### Ad-hoc test run

1. Open **Test Runs**.
2. Click **Create Test Run**.
3. Choose `Ad-hoc` as the run type.
4. Add test cases manually using search.
5. Set the configuration.
6. Click **Create**.

### Expected result

The new run opens with the selected test cases and saved configuration.

It is now ready for execution.
